New Indian-Pakistani Movie

August 21st, 2008

A Pakistani film about a boy who inadvertently strays into Indian territory will be the first ever to premiere simultaneously in both countries whose ties are often strained, the film’s Pakistani producer said.

Ramchand Pakistani, inspired by a real-life incident, examines the emotional turmoil of an eight-year-old boy and his father after they cross into India and are jailed, while the mother in Pakistan is left waiting to see their fate.

The film’s release in India and Pakistan on August 1 will be a rare event considering political rivalry has limited cultural interaction between the two nations.

“It is a very rare example of creative constructive collaboration between both countries,” producer Javed Jabbar said at a press conference on Sunday, a day after the film was screened at the Osian’s Cinefan film festival in New Delhi.

Jabbar, whose daughter Mehreen directed Ramchand Pakistani, said Pakistan allowed filming to take place close to sensitive border areas in southern Sindh province while India let the crew visit a jail in western Gujarat state to maintain “visual and narrative authenticity”.

Indian actress Nandita Das, known for her roles in bold, unconventional productions, plays the mother in the film whose main characters are from Pakistan’s minority Hindu community.

When Indian troops find the boy Ramchand and his father who comes looking for him, they suspect them of being spies.

July 31st, 2008

T-Series and Pooja Bhatt have started working on their latest venture ” Kajraare”. The movie stars Himesh Reshammiya who plays the lead role in the film as a lawyer.

Pooja Bhatt has been following his father’s footsteps and promoting young and fresh talent from Lollywood. This time around Javed Sheikh has played a key role in helping them shortlist Mona Liza after they rejeced around 70 females. The Bhatt production house signed Meera before this for Nazar that could’n do much at the box-office. Pooja is hoping that Mona Liza will suit the innocent looking girl’s role in their next.

The movie will be shot in Lahore, Morocco and Europe.

Nargis : Lollywood dream girl!

July 31st, 2008

Fabulous hair sprinkling over her shapely shoulders and neck like a small water fall over a wine goblet, magnetic eyes with their ends curved up.. Nargis… I first met Nargis on the set of Altaf Hussain’s Yeh Dooriyan a year ago. When she and Reema were discussing some funny incident and laughing like mad. The lavish set of the film was full of stars, but none looked as stunning as Nargis. She was trying in vain, to dance freely in a Gharara which is not easy task, of course. During that endeavor, the stiletto heel of her shoe caught one of the Gharara and a part of the cloth was torn off. As a new dress was being sought for the lovely girl, she sat down on a sofa and talked whisperingly with Reema, on her shooting schedule. After a while the good-looking Lollywood director Masood Butt joined her. He was trying to convince her for a role in his movie. Although I had little time on my hand I couldn’t properly talk to Nargis on her films. I was convinced after watching the shooting that given good roles, she is a surefire hit item. Unlike actresses like Madiha Shah, Sana, Laila and others, Nargis has real talent for expressive acting. It’s sad that females like Nargis are dismissed as just gloss objects. Those who saw the beauty in Idrees Khan’s Aalmi Ghunde, in a pivotal role of a lady head of the state (playing a role like Benazir), are convinced that Nargis fitted perfectly in the role. Unfortunately, while the script was brilliant by Nasir Adeeb, director Idrees Khan seemed to have little idea about what sort of grandeur was needed for such a strong theme. But Nargis impressed. In a flowing, shining robe, sitting on regal chair, she looked the queen of all she surveyed. After that sort of role, Nargis hardly got a role to test her skills. I have a feeling that if her film with Faisal Qureshi, called Saza, had not been delayed, it would have given Nargis a pedestal to stardom. Unfortunately, roles like in Kuri Munda Razi and Kala Raj have type-casted her and she has suffered in her reputation as a solo star. Recently, I heard that Nargis gave the sacrifice of her cascading hair to do a most unusual role of a bald woman for Omar Sharif’s Chand Babu! That role can lift Nargis to big things, but only if she consistently performs in good movies. Her vampish role has seriously sidelined her as a top heroine. I have heard that she disclosed her Chand Babu role to the newsmen, which agreed the makers of the film because they wanted to surprise the public. Ogled at closely, Nargis is a perfect beauty. Her wheatish complexion is full of magical features. Fabulous hair sprinkling over her shapely shoulders and neck like a small water fall over a wine goblet, magnetic eyes with their ends curved up to make them a physical feature from the age of pharaohs, before the couple of her sizzling lips. Yeah, it’s an ode to the gorgeous. Although I had little time on my hand I couldn’t properly talk to Nargis on her films. Khulay Aasman Ke Neechay

July 26th, 2008

Khulay Aasman Ke Neechay

A movie’s title always somehow depicts the story that lies within. Unlike Javed Sheikh’s Khulai Aasman Ke Neechai starring Sana, Saleem Sheikh, Humayun saeed and Meera which had no connection with the title. Khulay Aasman Ke Neechay claims to be a high budget movie and a complete family entertainer but it surely falls short of all its expectations after the watch. The story is based on a couple being paired up since childhood (Sana and Saleem Sheikh). Nadeem gets Sana engaged to Saleem Sheikh and adopts her as well to stay with them. The couple live in the same house till the time Saleem Sheikh has to fly abroad. He happens to go abroad and meet Meera. Thereafter there are some really weird scene without any weightage to the dialogues between Saleem Sheikh and Meera. Meera’s accent is irritating till the end and Sana’s stupidity is sky high. The whole movie is comprised of a love rectangle where Saleem Sheikh loves Meera, Sana loves Saleem Sheikh and Humayun Saeed loves Sana. The movie has a series of dumb songs but the locations are nice. The ending is even worse than the whole movie. In short one should go watch the movie because of the beautiful locations, better technology and timepass but KAKN doesnot live upto our expectations. Much is expected out of Javed Sheikh as he is compared to Karan Johar by many. Saleem Sheikh’s dance looks horrendous and Meera looks stunning. Sana can easily be ignored. Nadeem and Humayun Saeed are the best actors in the lot. We rate KAKN as a 6/10. Source : LollyBolly.Com (Lollywood Movie Reviews)

Actress Rumya quits Lollywood

July 25th, 2008

One of the hot and sexiest actresses in the Pakistan film industry Lollywood, Rumya has left it. According to Rumya she cannot survive in the dirty unhealthy atmosphere of Lollywood and that was exactly why she left Pollywood, the Pushto film industry. Rumya says that acting runs in her blood and she is made for it, but the film industry was using her as a sex symbol and she was unable to show her mettle in the realm of acting. She also added that she is perfect for the lead role in the drama serials and many private channels have offered her a lead role. (Lollywood News And Articles)
